Welcome to MealLens ("the App," "we," "us," or "our"). MealLens is developed by Fırat Onurcan Polat as an individual developer. We are committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application.

1. Information We Collect

To provide and improve the functionality of MealLens, we may collect and process the following types of information:

• Account Information (optional): MealLens does not require an account to work. If you choose to sign in, we use Sign in with Apple; we receive a unique identifier and, only if you permit it, your name and email. Authentication is handled via Firebase Authentication.
• Food Photos You Scan: When you take or select a photo of a meal or a packaged-food label, that image is sent securely to our AI provider (OpenAI) solely to estimate the food's calories and macronutrients. Photos are used only to generate that analysis and are not used by us to build a profile of you. See Section 3.
• User-Generated Content (stored on your device):
  • Food Diary: The meals, portions, calories and macros you log.
  • Goals & Profile: The goal, body, and activity details you enter during setup and your calculated calorie/macro targets.
  • Water & Weight: Water intake and weight entries you record.
  • This diary data is stored locally on your device using Apple's on-device database (SwiftData). It is not uploaded to our servers.
• Subscription Information: MealLens Pro is managed through the Apple App Store (StoreKit). Payment is processed exclusively by Apple; we do not collect or store your payment details. We only receive your subscription status (active/expired) to unlock Pro features.
• Usage & Technical Data:
  • Analytics: Collected via Firebase Analytics to understand which features are used most.
  • Configuration: We use Firebase Remote Config to manage feature settings and deliver the app configuration.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

• Analyze the food photos you scan to estimate calories and macronutrients.
• Maintain your food diary, goals, water and weight records on your device.
• Manage your subscription and access to Pro features.
• Analyze aggregate app usage and stability to improve the app.

We do not sell your personal information or your diary data to third parties.
